Madhyamam newspaper has a legacy of revolutionizing the media sector in Kerala. Promoting an alternative media culture by giving voice to the voiceless, Madhyamam paved a new path in the contemporary media world. As its 25th anniversary present to the wide range of readers, Madhyamam launched its television version as MediaOne TV, a combination of General Entertainment and News Channel. Following the footsteps, a media institute was established as MBL Media School in 2010. The intent was to revolutionize media education by creating motivated, professionally competent, highly skilled and socially conscious media practitioners. The students are provided with state-of-the-art facilities for production of news bulletins, audio-video programmes, documentaries etc.
Having shifted to the MediaOne TV headquarters in 2018 and rechristened as MediaOne Academy of Communication, the institute is committed to high standards in providing industry fitness, theoretical clarity and imbibing social responsibilities. Being a part of the Madhyamam family, MediaOne Academy provides a unique opportunity to students to learn from industry experts and on-job training in latest technologies.
MediaOne Academy’s broad mission encapsulates the need to impart a holistic education with theoretical and practical learning, through tutorials from experienced experts, field works, grassroots internship, practical assignments, midterm training, exposure trips etc. The students are encouraged to creatively explore mass media for social change, to come up with alternative media practices in the domains of mass media.
